Overview:
Dan Cristiani Excavating is a leading contractor with over 55 years of experience in utility construction and excavation services across the Midwest. This role is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations while actively performing structural, collision, and fabrication repairs on dump trucks, trailers, roll-off trucks, service trucks, and heavy excavation equipment. The Body Shop Manager ensures fleet readiness, minimizes downtime, controls departmental costs, and maintains high safety and quality standards. This is a working leadership role requiring both technical expertise and strong management capability.
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead daily body shop operations for heavy trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
- Prioritize and assign work to minimize fleet downtime and maintain readiness.
- Oversee workflow, monitor progress, and inspect completed repairs for quality, safety, and compliance.
- Coordinate with Truck Shop, Operations, and Parts teams.
- Provide hands-on support and after-hours assistance during critical breakdowns.
- Perform and oversee disassembly, structural and collision repairs, welding, fabrication, reassembly, and cosmetic bodywork.
- Diagnose damage and ensure repairs meet manufacturer and industry standards.
- Assess and inspect completed work for functionality and quality.
- Maintain shop tools, equipment, and fabrication machinery.
- Assess damage and prepare accurate repair estimates.
- Coordinate with insurance adjusters when applicable.
- Monitor labor efficiency, material usage, repair costs, and KPIs.
- Evaluate in-house versus outsourced repairs for cost effectiveness.
- Supervise, train, and develop technicians.
- Conduct performance evaluations and enforce company policies.
- Establish clear workflow standards, accountability, and safety expectations.
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, and environmental compliance.
- Oversee hazardous material handling and maintain a clean, safe shop environment.
- Review and approve timecards.
- Maintain accurate work order documentation and repair records.
- Provide operational and cost reporting to leadership.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (trade school or certification preferred).
- Proven experience in heavy truck, trailer, or construction equipment body repair.
- Strong welding, fabrication, structural repair, and mechanical skills.
- Experience with collision repair and damage estimating.
- Supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with fleet maintenance or work order systems preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass all company-required screenings (drug, background, etc.).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift over 50lbs.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, such as prolonged physical exertion, and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions, crawling under, or climbing on top of equipment.
- Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
- Ability to constantly work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, and noisy conditions.
- Ability to frequently climb in and out of diverse types of equipment.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma; minimum of 4 years of experience
SCHEDULE:
- Full- Time Position, (1st Shift: 6:00AM – 4:00PM)
- Work Location: Charlestown IN, In person.
- Expected hours: 40 – 50 hours weekly; Monday to Friday

Overview:
Dan Cristiani Excavating is a subcontractor with a diverse group of related companies licensed to perform work in many counties around Southern Indiana. We have worked hard for almost 53 years to offer a wealth of technical expertise in all areas of utility construction, and excavating services, including earth moving, land clearing, and demolition. JOB DUTIES:
- Drives truck with trailer, hauling equipment to and from garage/storage to work sites
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Positions chains, straps, and binders to secure loads during transit
- Loads and unloads equipment on trailers
- Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
- Maintains logs and records in compliance with DOT regulations
- Maintains and checks truck, trailer, and supplies to ensure road-worthiness
- Able to identify mechanical problems that may occur
- Self Motivated with the ability to make split decisions
- Duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice
- Ensuring that safety practices are followed
- Ability to follow instructions, read and interpret instructions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience in construction or a similar field
- (2) to (4) years of experience as a Truck Driver, preferably for a low-bed hauler
- Valid Class A CDL and satisfactory driving record required per Company policy
- Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver’s license
- 21 years of age required
- Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations

Reports to: General Manager
Basic purpose of position: Transport open top and compact containers for proper disposal at the landfill/Transfer Station. Your responsibilities include handling pick up, hauling, checking the container, completing reports, and complying with all transportation laws and procedures.
Expectation: We expect all employees to be committed to a high standard of safety, be able to comply with all safety policies/rules and willing to effectively enforce those rules. Individuals performing this function must be able to manage the development and implementation of safety training in support of the corporate safety program. Individuals must be able to
Responsibilities:
- Drivers will service customers hauling off waste of various size dumpsters
- Drivers will drop off dumpsters at the location of customers’ requests.
- Drivers will be required to use an internal map system for dumpster delivery and pickup
- Drivers will enter in and out of the truck multiple times per day
- Drivers will be required to hook up dumpster containers and safely secure them before moving
- Drivers could expect non-traditional hours including weekends depending on customer needs
- Required to follow all DOT rules and procedures

Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of industry experience or similar in a relatable field.
Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training:
- Valid/Current Class A or B required
- Ability to read and understand directions and maps
- Ability to pass a road test evaluation
- 3 to 5 years of CDL experience required
- General Knowledge of maintenance with trucks preferred
- Experience operating in off-road conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:
- Able to work 40+ hours per week.
- The ability to constantly work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather conditions, including extremely hot and/or cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions.
- Ability to occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Ability to lift/pull cables, open/close container doors and pick up trash. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly, and or up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
- Able to work long hours, more than 8 hours, during all shifts.
- Ability to occasionally stand and walk for periods of time greater than 1 hour.
- Must be able to hear and communicate work or safety instructions spoken in a normal voice.
- Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or other equipment.
- Ability to communicate using various types of equipment as well as view and change data on a standard computer for periods of time greater than 4 hours daily.
- Must be able to work independently and to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- We are seeking a Utility Division Foreman who will be responsible for overseeing a crew that works directly installing water, sewer, and storm utilities.
- A Class-A CDL is desired.
- The ideal candidate must be able to read prints, develops work-around procedures for maintaining crew productivity during delays caused by other trades, customer, lack of materials, absenteeism, etc.
- Ensures safety practices are observed by all crews during their work, monitors quality assurance and ensures installations meet customer specification and industry standards.
- Experience (2+ years) in trench shoring & installing water, sewer, and storm utilities.
- Must have experience running a crew of 4 to 5.
- Equipment operating experience running an excavator, trencher, dozer etc.
- Individual must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week.
- We are currently looking for experienced utility operators who have a thorough working knowledge of utility construction and installation for utilities, water, sewer & storm.
- Experience using trench shoring equipment and experience using a variety of different sizes of excavators.
- Ability to grade slopes, bench cut, shoot grade, etc.
- Preferred experience reading blueprints and grades.
- Ability to complete rough grading, qualified to dig trenches, benching, and backfilling.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary
- Work with ground personnel and assist with groundwork, if necessary, in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe online and grade.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 90 lbs. Must be able to climb and squat.
- Individual must be able to work in inclement weather conditions and ensures safety practices are followed.
- Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week.
